Cambridge, MA Temple Street August 21, 2026 Unknown Race | Male | 64 Years Old Cambridge Police Department Armed: Gun William Woodworth, 64, of Watertown, was killed Friday night , August 21, 2026 after officers responded to a report of suspicious activity, according to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. Reportedly, CPD Officers responded to a 911 call reporting suspicious individuals in a loading dock/parking lot behind businesses on Temple Street around 8 p.m.. Responding officers spoke with multiple people in the area before encountering Woodworth, who was sitting in his vehicle. Police said the man, later identified as Woodworth, got out of the vehicle and pointed a loaded gun at the officers. According to a Cambridge police spokesperson and multiple shots were fired. Woodworth succumbed to his injuries despite medical aid given at the scene. Police reported a loaded gun was taken from the Woodworth although it is unclear if he fired any shots.
